John Vourvoulakis was born in Lamia in 1978.
He received his Diploma in 2002 and his MECE degree in 2004 from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Democritus University of Thrace.
In 2017, he was awarded his PHD degree from the same department. His PHD thesis was "Acceleration of advanced image and video processing algorithms, using reconfigurable hardware (FPGA), for robotic vision applications".
He had been working in Technological Educational Institute of Central Greece and in (former) Technological Educational Institute of Lamia for more than 10 years.
He was a founding member of Genesis Electrical & Electronics and he was part of the company from 2009 until 2019.
In 2020, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering in Serres.
In 2026, he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in the same department.
