From 1998 to 2012 he was member of TRIAS S.A., a consulting firm activated in Transport Planning, Traffic Engineering, Information & Application Systems for 25 years (1992-2017). He was a shareholder of the company since 2005 a Board Member (30.06.2008-30.06.2010, ΦΕΚ ΑΕ-ΕΠΕ 10420/10.9.2008) and Head of Transportation and IT Systems Division (2005-2010). He was involved in significant projects and studies in the private and public sector and in European programs with more important being the Underwater tunnel of Thessaloniki, the Egnatia Odos ITS Master Plan, the Intelligent Transport System of Thessaloniki Ring Road, the GIS of Kalamaria Municipality and others. From academic year 2002-03 until 2009-10 he served as Adjunct Professor at the former TEI of Central Macedonia teaching in various departments of the institute the subjects of GIS, Databases, Algorithms and Object-oriented programming. In 2010 he was elected Lecturer in Surveying Engineering and Geoinformatics department in the discipline of Information Systems and their Applications in Transportation Projects. In 2014 he was elected Associate Professor in a new position, in the discipline of "Web-centric Information Systems and Geographic Databases" that he serves until present in the same Department, that later on, according to Law 4610/2019 (GG 70/A'/7.5.2019) was incorporated in the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering of International Hellenic University. He served in important administrative positions during his tenure position: President/Vice President of the Department, Director of the department's Postgraduate Program, Sector Director, Board Member of the Research Committee, Board Member of the nonprofit Open Technologies Alliance GFOSS, Member of the Institute's "Quality Assurance Unit", President of the Institute's "Receipt of Materials and Good Performance of Services" Committee, and member of numerous other Committees.
His research experience, focused during last decade on geospatial data standardization and interoperability, OGC standards and services, open data and services, geospatial web services, and free and open source geospatial software. He has performed a significant effort in applying research dealing with the development of 3D geospatial visualizations and virtual geospatial worlds. He has successfully completed as scientific manager the MERGIN' MODE project a Cultural Information System aiming to demonstrate monuments by merging real with virtual, in a Mixed Reality, assisted by Geoinformation technologies.
