Dr. Stelios Tsitsos
was born in
Greece
. He graduated with a first class Honours Degree from the Democritus
University of Thrace, Department of Electrical Engineering and
Electronics. He was awarded the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications
and Digital Electronics from the University of Manchester Institute of
Science and Technology (UMIST),
U.K.
His dissertation project dealt with the design and implementation of a
wide-band distributed microwave amplifier. He then conducted research (in
the same University) on the development of numerical and experimental
methods with respect to the analysis and optimisation of microwave power
dividers in collaboration with Siemens Plessey Radar,
U.K.
For this work he was awarded the Ph.D. Degree in Microwave Engineering
from UMIST for his thesis “Analysis and performance of stripline feed
power dividers”. After his military service in the Greek Army he
worked as a Research Associate at UMIST for approximately 3 years.
During that period of time he conducted research on the design and
optimisation of ceramic filters for mobile handsets, for TDK Corporation,
Japan
. He returned to
Greece
and joined the Greek Telecommunications (OTE) as a Senior Engineer, in
the wireless radio-networks planning department. In April 2002 he was
appointed a Lecturer in the Department of Informatics and Communications,
in the Technological Educational Institute of Serres,
Greece
, where he was promoted to Assistant Professor in January 2006 and to
Associate Professor in December 2010. Dr. Tsitsos is a member of the
Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), the Institution
of
Engineering and
Technology (ÉÅT)
and the
Institute
of
Electrical
and Electronics
Engineers (ÉÅÅÅ).
